Competitions

Taekwondo competitions consist of two opponents, one representing the color blue and the other the color red, there is a referee always between the two opponents, keeping a distance of one meter to avoid being kicked.

In competitions there is a TV, computer or some device that is counting the points that the opponents are marking.

The opponents wear special protections with sensors to counteract the points, these points are counted depending on the force with which the kicks are used towards the opponent.

The referee plays an important role, he / she is in charge of giving the signal for the start of the competition, he / she has to inform the judges of the infractions that are committed while the competition is taking place. He also has to ensure that the opponents are on the mat at all times and do not go out of bounds.

The opponents have to try to score the greatest number of points to the opponent in a limited time, they also have to have a defensive position to defend themselves from the kicks of their opponent.

If one of the opponents commits an infraction, the referee has to report it and depending on the infraction, measures are taken, from subtracting points to expelling from competition, the measures vary depending on the seriousness of that infraction.

The duration of Taekwondo competitions is three rounds of two minutes each, with one minute of rest between each round.

If there were a tie, the result would be defined in a fourth round of two minutes to sudden death, where the first to connect a point would win.
